With a Mediterranean climate, the sun shines brightly almost every day of the year in the region considered as Portugal’s sunniest territory, while the dazzling starry skies have earned the Alqueva its inclusion in the list of the seven best places in the world to see the stars by National Geographic. Alentejo has a 126 km long coastline, marked by idyllic beaches and traversed by internationally recognized natural trails.
Portuguese people are known for their welcoming personalities which make them open to other cultures and innovation, and people from the Alentejo are no exception. English is a mandatory course for children from the very beginning of their school years and is the most spoken foreign language in Portugal (followed by French and Spanish), highly dominated and used in education and business.
