The Alentejo region has important endogenous resources. The sun, for instance, has contributed to the region becoming, in recent years, the main center of photovoltaic energy production in Portugal.
The region, more specifically the municipality of Sines, has one of the main national centers of expertise in the petrochemical field, due to the presence of relevant companies such as Galp Energia, Repsol Polímeros and Indorama.
ZILS is a national energy hub and a distinct cluster of new energies and energy transition with enormous potential for multiplying industries and services for the Alentejo region and the country.
